Meet our founder

A lifelong musician, Eugene Song began his musical education on the piano at age six. Over the years, he added vocals, guitar, drums, French horn, and trumpet to his repertoire, eventually earning a bachelor’s degree in music from Brown University.

His professional career began in the classrooms of Boston Public Schools but quickly transitioned into the music industry—starting with sound engineering and mastering, and continuing with six years of performing, songwriting, and working on the business side of music.

After earning his MBA from NYU Stern, Eugene pivoted to a career in technology, spending 14 years building digital products and leading teams at companies such as The New York Times, NBCUniversal, and BrainPOP. His most recent work developing educational products deepened his respect for the craft of teaching and gave him valuable insight into designing nurturing learning experiences for kids.

Eugene has decades of experience recording, writing, and performing for audiences across the country and around the world—as well as for local Westchester community events. He’s spent more years of his life in bands than not, and currently plays in an acoustic duo called mildpanic (with GRM instructor Caitlin) and drums for Trogdor and the Dragons. Opening Green Room Music is the culmination of his passions: music, education, and community.
