What are Music Production and Audio Engineering?

Music Production and Audio Engineering are the art and science of creating and refining recorded music. Music production focuses on shaping the creative vision of a song, including composing, arranging, and layering sounds using tools like digital audio workstations (DAWs). Audio engineering brings technical expertise, involving recording, mixing, and mastering with microphones, EQ, and effects to achieve a polished, professional sound. Together, they turn raw ideas into finished tracks ready for streaming, radio, or film..

How will you be teaching these classes at GRM?

We are considering two possible classes:

Music Production 101 is a beginner-friendly course that covers the essentials of creating, editing, and producing professional-quality tracks. You’ll learn to navigate DAWs, work with audio and MIDI, explore effects like EQ and reverb, and master key techniques like comping, leveling, and panning. By the end, you’ll have the skills to turn your musical ideas into polished productions.

Audio Engineering 101 is a hands-on course that introduces the essentials of recording and mixing sound. You’ll learn to use recording software, understand digital audio properties, and work with tools like microphones, cables, and signal flow. The class covers foundational techniques like leveling, EQ, compression, and reverb, giving you the skills to create polished, professional-quality mixes. Perfect for beginners ready to dive into the world of audio engineering!
